Recover your company’s Instagram account in 8 easy steps
Recently, we created an Instagram account for one of our clients. Later, when we went to log back in, we received this error message, “Your account has been disabled for violating our terms. Learn how you may be able to restore your account.” We didn’t understand what terms we could have possibly violated, as we hadn’t even published a picture yet.
Here’s how we quickly reactivated the account:
1. Click “Learn More.” You’ll see another message:
Your account has been disabled for not following our terms. You won’t be able to log into this account and no one else will be able to see it. If you think this was a mistake, please let us know.
2. Click “please let us know.”
Instagram takes you to another page that says:
If you believe your account was deactivated by mistake, please provide the following information so we can investigate. Please only submit this form if your account was deactivated for not following Instagram’s Community Guidelines and you believe this was a mistake. If you can’t access your account for a different reason, please return to the Help Center to find the appropriate place to report your issue.
Is this account used to represent a business, product or service?
3. Click “Yes.”
Then, click “Send.”
4. Instagram will now ask you to enter your full name, Instagram username, email address, and the country you’re in. Enter all this information accordingly.
5. Instagram will also request that you verify your business by submitting a copy of one of the following:
Local business license
Certificate of Formation
Articles of Incorporation
Proof of domain name registration
Order fulfillment documentation
Don’t provide this information yet. Simply check the following:
I understand I can’t get help with my account if I haven’t uploaded a valid document supporting my business.
Then, click “Send.”
6. Instagram will email you.
Now, reply with documentation.
7. Instagram will email you again.
Do this immediately. Instagram is ensuring you’re a real person, not a bot. Use copy paper and write clearly and large. Attach the photo as a JPEG file.
Here’s what the image we submitted looked like:
8. Hopefully, Instagram will email you one last time.
Congratulations! Instagram reactivated your account. If it doesn’t work the first time, keep repeating the process 2-3 times a day.
