When is the best time to post on social media?

Knowing the best times to post on social media can make the difference between one click or 10 for your company’s social pages. According to Sprout Social, each social media channel has a best time of the day to publish content. Many companies don’t know the optimal times of the day and even days of the week that work best for social sharing. And if you’re a national brand, you should also consider time zones.

We summarized six of the top social sharing sites to ensure your company gets the best visibility.

Facebook

  • Thursday is the best day to post.
  • Wednesdays through Sundays are the most active days on Facebook.
  • The most optimal time to post is 1 p.m. on Thursday.
  • Between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on any day is an active time on Facebook and a good time to post.
  • Early mornings and late nights are the least optimal posting times.

Twitter

  • Mondays through Thursdays are good days to post, with Thursday being the most optimal day.
  • Noon on Thursday is the most active time in the week.
  • Any weekday between noon and 3 p.m. is a good time to post.
  • Early mornings and late nights are the least optimal posting times.

Instagram

  • Weekdays are the most active days on Instagram and the best days to post.
  • Monday tends to drive the most engagement out of the week.
  • The least optimal time each day to post is 3 p.m.
  • Instagram is active nearly any time (excluding 3 p.m.) on Monday through Thursday.
  • The most optimal posting times are 2 a.m., 8.a.m. and 5 p.m.

Google+

  • Weekdays are the best days to post.
  • Wednesday is typically the most engaging day of the week.
  • Wednesday at 9 a.m. is the most optimal time to post.
  • Mornings, early evenings and late nights are the least effective times to post.
  • Nearly any time during the afternoon on weekdays is a good time to post.

LinkedIn

  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at noon and 5 p.m. are the best times to post.
  • Anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays is fairly active on LinkedIn.
  • The least optimal posting time is any day from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • The least optimal posting days are Saturday and Sunday.

Pinterest

  • Saturday is the most active day on Pinterest and the best day to post.
  • Saturday at 2 p.m. and also 9 p.m. are the most optimal posting times.
  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the three best days to post.
  • Late night until 3 a.m. (excluding midnight to 1 a.m.) is a good time to post.
  • The least optimal posting times are Sunday through Friday 4 a.m. to 7 p.m.
