Before the days of financial reform credit card companies were frequently found on college campuses giving away things like koozies and calculators to anyone who would fill out an application.

Then the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 came along and changed everything. The gimmes are gone, but credit card companies' desire to do business with this young demographic is still there, and they – the credit card companies – have shifted their focus to social media for reaching college-aged consumers.
